ONGOING READINGS

Teaism: A Tea House hosts poetry slams/readings every Sunday at 7:30
p.m. (although a student who went recently said things didn't start until 8 p.m.
or so). Call ahead to make sure it's going on: 202-638-6010. 400 Eighth Street,
NW, near Metro Center and the MCI Center/Gallery Place stops on the Red Line,
and a few blocks from the MCI Center.$5.
Starbucks in Chinatown, 800 7th St., NW (1 block from MCI Center) hosts
open mike poetry readings on Thursday nights at 6:15 p.m. These readings may
only be the first Thursday of every month, so check with Mr. Lester if you're

The Writer's Center in Bethesda is a popular site for readings, many of which are held on Sundays. Call 301-654-8664 or visit www.writer.org. The Writer's Center is right off of Wisconsin Avenue, shortly after you cross Bradley Blvd (if travelling from STA/NCS). Turn right on a small street called Walsh Street and the Writer's Center is on your right. Call or check the website for specific address and directions.
GOOD SOURCES FOR INFO ON READINGS
Washington Post Book World (Sunday), Washington City Paper (comes out on Thursday). Also, if you go back to my main webpage, I list some favorite poetry websites, some of which may list readings.
